Hunting on the River

We went to Pinedale to go duck hunting with our friends Katie and Bryan Lane here are some pics from this mornings hunt. Dan shot 3 and Bryan shot 1. It was a fun morning!
It was so nice..it was warm, and the smell of wild mint made it wonderful!
We cant wait to go again!

Dan at 6:20 AM

                                                             Dan at 6:30 AM
The decoys look so cool this early this is at shoot time 6:40 AM...there was steam rising but it didnt show up on the pic :(

Dan hates his pic taken so he thought this was funny. Above that he and Gunny are coming back to the blind from getting Dans first Mallard hen.

Watching for the birds to come in

I was having fun taking pics through the blind....this is Gunny watching the Lanes and their dogs across the river.

Gunny enjoyed the bank where he could take it all in.
Gunny hated the vest we had on him and was cold...so after the ducks quit flying in Dan spent time petting him and making him feel loved...spoiled dog! :)

After the hunt we went back to visit Betty Gifford and came home with her old cat Tootsie...she couldnt keep him anymore, and he and Gunny are buddies from when we were living with Giffords. It only took Tootsie less than an hour to take over the house..LOL! hes a funny kitty, at 15 hes still fiesty.

Well slowly we are building a zoo...or shelter..LOL! never a dull moment at the Brown's!
See ya next time!

Truck up the creek without a paddle

I was called out Wed for a hunter who had slid off a trail into a stream on BLM. The following are from Thursday while we drug it out of the creek....the driver was NOT hurt, but he did break the driveline, blew the fourweel drive and tore up the exhaust...dented the back passenger side pannel and broke the passenger side  back light....lots of scratches, and did I mention this was his WIFES truck???? ouch!

In the creek ( the creek is only a foot or two deep here.

Up the 45 degree hill its only about 50 feet.

This is one of the tow crew...he got to ride up the hill.

We started hauling up at 11AM and the truck was ready to laod on the flatbed at 3PM....She still ran, so we hope that it will be repaired and the drivers wife will forgive him. We closed the road and the backhoe opperator helped build a diversion to help keep someone else from trying the same dumb trick.

I had to smile when my sweet honey said...:even I wouldnt have driven that far up the cow trail, Ida stopped back where the backhoe sat to pull him out."  I have news for all....I WOULDNT HAVE BEEN IN THE TRUCK EVEN THAT FAR! hehehehe!!!!

Today Dan took a work friend Pronghorn hunting. Steve has has some health issues and cant drive, so it was a guys morning out.

He got this nice Buck...and they are currently grinding the meat to make homemade summer sausage. They cut out several nice roasts too. Hooray Stever!! and Congrats!!

Dan and I are off to Pinedale tomorrow to hunt the river for the Sunday Duck Opener....hope we bag out!!

Hello!!

We just celebrated our 6th Anniversary. :) and adopted a Sun Conure named "Aura" this is the scientific name for Vulture....he is nothing like a Vulture, but he LOVES green grapes. Sylvester our other bird seems happy to have a friend in the cage next to his...he lost his mate a few months ago, and has been lonley, I think Aura likes having Sylvester there too.
Dan carved me a Black Bear for my gift..he is sooo awesome, he makes things for me all the time, and I LOVE them! his tallents never end ;)!

Tomorrow is Yoga. We decided that we needed an activity besides watching TV and doing homework that we could do together...so we chose yoga, and love it! The instructor is a friend from work, and she is great. I ordered all the stuff we needed for part of our anniversary gifts too.. Mats...Blankets...blocks (because we arnt flexable eough yet for some of the poses) and straps to carry the mats and to help as a prop for streaching. Dans is blue, and mine of course is purple. The Mexican balnkets are green.

See ya soon!!
