Pumpkins

Remember back when we took Yazzi to the pumpkin patch??? well we decided to carve ours last night. Here are the results.
The mess. We did it in the family room on the coffee table. any small pieces that fell to the floor were promptly eaten by Gunny.

Dan usually does a very detailed design. This year he started one, but got frustrated and.........

We got Jack the Pumpkin Kings brother hahaha! Its still cool.

Me..I just carve a face, I always have and I always will. I know its boaring, but I think they look cool and ...........

So does Gunny.
LOL! he couldnt figure out wht is was, so he went to say hi.
HAPPY HAUNTING!!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!

Halloween Cookies

Bountiful Baskets offered 2 dozen sugar cookies with icing for a good price so we ordered them.
They came with ghosts Frankenstein, pumpkins and bats.
Dan and I had fun making them...as Dan said, "we are such kids" LOL yeah and we enjoy every bit of it!

I have been wishing for a new kitchen table. But at times like this I'm glad we are using the plastic table, it makes for better clean up.
It was fun making them......
And for Dan even more fun eating them :)

This is Gunny LOL!
and this is Tootsie...although Dan started mixing the colors, so the whiskers aren't so good LOL!

Mr Bat!

This is the final product...a bakers dozen...yeah 13 cookies, I eat one and Dan enjoyed the rest as a "sweet" lunch, ah well Halloween only comes along once a year!
Happy Haunting!!!!!

Pumkin Patch 2011

Yazzi wanted a pumpkin, so off to the patch we went. :)
Yazzi and Grandpa

Well the sign said no riding in the carts...this is a wheelbarrow so Yazzi got a ride. Yeah Grandpa justified it, and he "doesnt" spoil his little bug either. LOL!!
Uncle Carson helping look for that perfect pumpkin....

FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Once she found her pumpkin it was a "carry me" request.

Yazzi was a good helper for Carson.

Carson wanted the biggest White pumpkin he could find, Yazzi thought he was silly.

We thought this was a cool pumpkin, but only took a picture. Yazzi said they wernt pumpkins they were aliens.

Yazzi was explaining to Grandpa that the goats were not her friends LOL!

The final harvest....we spent $26.25. Carson got a huge pumpkin, and Yazzi loved hers because she could carry it.

We ended the visit at Carls Jr for burgers.
Cant wait till the next visit.
Till next time!

Amanda

I went to see Amanda for my teeth. She turned my teeth purple and poked my gums with sharp things just to say I have issues..LOL! shes going to be a great hygienist and we are really proud of her!
She was looking at my Xrays, and found one was missing....

Amanda in her loops. She looks soooo official..LOL!
If you need your teeth cleaned she needs patents, and its reasonable on cost. Cleanings and xrays, plus dental assessments on your dental health.
I can give you a cost list or Amanda can if you give us a call or drop an email.
:)

Weekend with Yazzi

We went to Utah to help Amanda and Andrew with some tree trimming. While there we got Yazzi and had lots of fun!

At Amandas Yazzi got to play in the banana chair and loved it at Auntie Amandas. :)

She loved the Chinchillas too.

We got Carson for a few hours too, it was a great treat for us and Yazzi. She loves her Uncle Carson.

Our boy is growing up...this is his girlie friend Jessica. The look is from a comment Dan made and shocked Carson. I would think after as long as hes known Dan he'd not be surprised at all LOL!

Shes a good little lady :)

The next day we took her to breakfast then to Lehi.

Dans mom has chickens and Yazzi was making sure to count them all, and be upset they wouldnt mind her.

This is Tigger. Dans Step dad Tracys cat, Tigger is a great cat, and he entertained Yazzi.

At breakfast Yazzi told Grandpa great stories.

She was lots of fun. She said she wants to come back to Wyoming to stay with us. I will work on that for sure, Dans last work day at the BLM is November 4, so he could stay with her while Im at work.

Till next time!

Award 27 years in the Making

I was in 4-H most of y childhood and across three states. Wyoming, Utah and Arizona. I have shown most all the light breeds of horses there are, and shown then both Western and English, including jumping and Rodeo. I served on the Lincoln County Rodeo Royalty in Wyoming in 1980, and Salt Lake County 4-H Queen in 1985. I have also been a 4-H leader for Veterinary Science, Dogs and Horses, and even one year in cooking, totaling 11 years as a leader.
In 1991 I started raising miniature horses and have many awards from them as well including a Hall of Fame with my Gelding Willie Lees Diamond Chief "Cheify".
My oldest Daughter Amanda served as Queen in our Miniature Horse Club in 2001, and with Chief won several titles National and local as well as tack and savings bonds.
After many changes in my life, all for the best Dan and I sold our last mini mare Lady in April 2009.
I do miss the horses, but as happens in many cases the new chapters of my life are horseless. Dan insists that in time we will get them again, and he has packed away and hidden my trophy saddle so I cant sell it, and our grand kids can ride in it someday.
The following pictures are of an honor I received in the mail (I couldn't get to Utah for the meeting) yesterday.

The writing says; "Deej Eavenson Brown first Lady to achieve this Rank The Rank of State Master Horseman was archived by Deej in 1984. Deej was the first Lady 4-Her to receive this rank in the State of Utah. Other ranks completed include, Judging, Roping, English Horsemanship, and Rein9ng. In 1985 Deej served as Salt Lake County 4-H Queen."  In the Utah program, they have a rank book with 8 basic ranks for the kids to work on. Each rank requires that the 4-Her complete specific items such as a journal, and feed record and expense records. Riding test, and a written test.
For the State Master Horseman (the hardest to get) there was a written, oral, demonstration, reining pattern given at the gate with 2 minutes to learn then ride. Showmanship pattern, grooming, parts of the horse some science questions on nutrition, and I was given a horse I had never ridden and asked to demonstrate saddling and ride another reining pattern. I also had to write a 2000 word essay on the history of the Quarter Horse breed and what it is used for and why. I never dreamed for something like this!

I also received this concho pendant, I was surprised it wasn't a buckle, but pleased because I still wear the one Cheify won me, and never wear my Queen one, this is something I can wear anytime. I hear the first Male to receive this rank received the plaque and a bola tie.

WOW!

FALL Colors

I love my job! While I was out doing inspections the other day up Whitney Canyon about 7400 ft. I got to see the flaming colors of fall. Autumn is my favorite time of the year...I love the colors, the over all feeling of fall (less the snow). So being out during this time is enjoyable and relaxing for me. I hope you enjoy the colors too.

Yes that is snow. We had snow four days before my trip up there, but remember it is over 7000ft.

Shot through the trucks window...I think I need to clean it LOL!

Another misty shot through the windshield...look at that lone Douglas Fir...It would make a great Christmas tree if we only had room...this one would take up our entire living room and then some. :)

I just wish the photos would have shown the true brilliance of the Aspen.

But don't forget the best holiday of fall....HALLOWEEN!!!!!!

Enjoy the full moon!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hehehehehe!
Till next time!

Visit with Yazzi

We went to Salt Lake to take a friend to a medical apointment. While we were there we got to spend a few hours with Yazzmunn and Christa.

While at lunch Yazzi had a melt down, but once she gave in to a nap and woke up she was running a temp, so it was understandable...poor little thing. Besides, it was 59 out and she was sent to us in a sleevless dress. Granted they had also put a cotton sun dress under the codaroy dress. Still in this Grandmas mind not enough! I had to ask for her coat, and that took a minute for them to even find it. So once in her seat in the truck she snuggeled under my sweat shirt.

Christa was NOT happy I shot this picture...But I'm the Mom and I do as I please, besides, I was buying :)
I only got this one, Yazzi had her melt down right after this was taken.

This is while we were waiting for Steve in the parking structure at the University, Christa was a bit more agreeable here.

I suck up on Yazzi for this shot, when she turned and saw I took her picture she got very upset with me.

Finally she warmed up some, and when I get a text the tone is a bugaling elk, she thought that was halerious, and giggled till tears ran down her littke cheeks.

We are going to help Amanda and Andrew with there trees in a couple of weeks, I hope we can take Yazzi then too, mabe a trip to the pumkin patch...and I will buy her a warm otfit if needs be!

Until the next update!!
